The Zaans Museum is nominated for 'European Museum of the Year 2012' award.

 

In 2011 the museum was already the only Dutch entry for the European Micheletti Award. The Zaans Museum elaborates on the interesting history of Europe's oldest industrial region.

 

Located in a contemporary design building and situated next to the world famous historic 'Zaanse Schans' site, contributes to its praised collection and creative approach to education and social responsibility.

 

The museum's main goal is learning the story behind the Zaan region is to satisfy its visitors with a unique atmosphere whilst leaving space for imagination in its presentation.

Zaanse Schans

The biggest tourist attraction in the Zaanstreek is the Zaanse Schans. Each year over 800.000 visitors from all over the world come to visit the mills and authentic workshops that tell the tale of how the region gained its succes.
